I’m really big into lists. But sometimes I think it’s best to focus on one good thing at a time. And one good thing you can do for yourself is to alkalize. There is a lot of information out there about what to eat in order to keep your body alkaline and therefore more healthy. Livestrong has an article on just this topic.

Ironically, some of the acidic food we eat or drink can make us more alkaline. For example, vinegar is acidic, but is recommended for maintaining alkalinity. This can be confusing, but don’t let it get in the way of working towards alkalinity. In general, if you eat mostly vegetables, either raw or lightly cooked, along with your animal and vegetable proteins, you are encouraging your body to be alkaline.

To test your body for alkalinity, purchase some test strips either from your local health food store or online. Do a quick search and you will find them. We’re supposed to keep our body somewhere at 7 for optimal health. It’s recommended to test your morning urine for an accurate count. Follow the directions on the package. You can either dip the strip into a cup or your urine, or place the strip in your urine stream. Either way, quickly compare the color of the strip to the chart that comes on the package to get your reading. Do this for several days to get an accurate picture of your alkalinity.

Even with a healthy diet, you might find you need a boost to maintain alkalinity. What I’ve found very helpful it to take about a quarter teaspoon of plain old generic, bought-in-the grocery-store baking soda in a glass of filtered water. I take this just before bed with my enzymes, and once again first in the morning. Be sure to measure your first morning urine to see if this is working for you. Over time, you might not need to measure this all the time. But it’s good to check it once and again to make certain you’re maintaining your alkalinity.

Is this what is keeping me well? I believe it is one of the many things I do that maintains my good health. It’s easy, it’s unbelievably cheap, and as far as I know it can do no harm. An added side benefit for women above a certain age… no more pesky nighttime hot flashes. That’s worth taking it all on it’s own!

HYDRION pH test tape, it is a reliable way to check the body pH and your health.
People may think they are healthy until one day, they feel symptoms and a comprehensive health check reveals serious medical condition, and sometimes the damage is irreversible.
If they would check the acid and alkaline balance for health, then they could find the problem 2 to 3 years ahead, just by checking the pH of saliva and Urine.
For that reason I use basically HYDRION pH test tape, and now and then pH Test Strips
as a second reference.

The Importance of Acid and Alkaline Balance for Health
Virtually all degenerative diseases including cancer, heart disease, arthritis, osteoporosis, kidney and gallstones, and tooth decay are associated with excess acidity in the body. While the body has a homeostatic mechanism that maintains a constant pH 7.4 in the blood, this mechanism works by depositing and withdrawing acid, and alkaline minerals from other locations including the bones, soft tissues, body fluids and saliva. Therefore, the pH of these other tissues can fluctuate greatly. The pH of saliva and urine offers a window through which you can see the overall pH balance in your body.

Cancer cannot exist in an alkaline environment. All forms of arthritis are associated with excess acidity. Acid in the body dissolves both teeth and bones. Whatever health situation you are faced with, you can monitor your progress toward a proper acid/alkaline balance by testing your saliva and Urine pH.

How to Do the Saliva pH Test
Wait at least 2 hours after eating. Fill your mouth with saliva and then swallow it. Do this again to help ensure that the saliva is clean. Then the third time, put some saliva onto pH paper. Wait a few seconds until the pH paper stops changing color.
The pH paper should turn blue. This indicates that your saliva is slightly alkaline at a healthy pH of 7.4. If it is not blue, compare the color with the chart that comes with the pH paper. If your saliva is acid (below pH of 7.0) wait two hours and repeat the test.

Saliva pH and Cancer
“When healthy, the pH of blood is 7.4, the pH of spinal fluid is 7.4, and the pH of saliva is 7.4. Thus the pH of saliva parallels the extra cellular fluid…pH test of saliva represents the most consistent and most definitive physical sign of the ionic calcium deficiency syndrome…The pH of the non-deficient and healthy person is in the 7.4 (dark blue) to 7.1 (blue) slightly alkaline range. The range from 6.5 (blue-green) which is weakly acidic to 4.5 (light yellow) which is strongly acidic represents states from mildly deficient to strongly deficient, respectively. Most children are dark blue, a pH of 7.4. Over half of adults are green-yellow, a pH of 6.5 or lower, reflecting the calcium deficiency of aging and lifestyle defects. Cancer patients are usually a bright yellow, a pH of 4.5, “especially when terminal.”

What are Acid and Alkaline?
Water (H2O) ionizes into hydrogen (H+) and hydroxide (OH-) ions. When these ions are in equal proportions, the pH is a neutral 7. When there are more H+ ions than OH- ions then the water is said to be acid. If OH- ions outnumber the H+ ions then the water is alkaline. The pH scale goes from 0 to 14 and is logarithmic, which means that each step is ten times the previous. In other words, a pH of 4.5 is 10 times more acid than 5.5, 100 times more acid than 6.5 and 1,000 times more acid than 7.5.

The body doesn’t understand pH, but at the cell level Millivolts are very important.
Alkalinity or Acidity (pH) vs. Millivolts (mV)
The term pH means Potential Hydrogen and thus this pH number corresponds also to a voltage measurement. Where the full range of pH scale goes from a low acidic pH 0 = +400 mV to a high alkaline pH 14 = -400 mV level.
At our body temperature the pH = 7.4 means –25mV.
Our cells and all living things are direct current (DC) systems created by the movement of sodium and potassium ions in and out of cell membranes. Normal, healthy cells have an electrical charge of about -70 mV across the cell membrane.
This electrical gradient is critical to the process of ion transport across the cell membrane and normal cell metabolism. Key features of cellular metabolism include the exchange of oxygen and nutrients for cellular waste, and ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) energy generation. These metabolic processes are almost always lacking in dysfunctional cells and improved as the cell membrane charge returns to normal.
According to Nobel Prize winner Otto Warburg, We have cell voltages of minus 70 to minus 90 millivolts. When we are born a healthy cell will have an electrical charge of between -70millivolts and -90 millivolts. As we age the electrical charge around the cell decreases; to as little as -35 millivolts by age 70 or so.
Scientist explains it this way. A NORMAL cell has an electrical potential of -70 millivolts, an AGED cell at -50 mV to -35 mV, and a CANCER or ill cell is +15 mV
Any challenge to the cell, such as oxygen/nutrient deficiency, toxicity, or inflammation can degrade the gradient from its optimal -70 mV. As the gradient falters, sodium is less efficiently pumped out of the cell, resulting in edema (fluid retention) and inflammation. As the gradient falls lower, oxygen delivery across the cell membrane into the interior of the cell is compromised. Without oxygen, the cell cannot generate ATP energy; the sodium-potassium ion pumping mechanism cannot be fueled, and the gradient falls further. A downward cycle of disordered cellular physiology will follow, which can ultimately lead to cell degeneration.

What you can do if the pH of Saliva and urine persist under 7.0?
First do a Comprehensive Blood and Urine test at “walkinlab” for around $150.
Second contact your primary doctor.
Third – Get rid of infections and underlying infections.
As: Upper respiratory (Oral, throat, sinus, larynx, pharynx) ear, eye, lower respiratory (trachea, bronchi, lungs), yeast infections. STD infections, urinary tract infections (bladder, kidney), gallbladder, Intestinal, yeast infections, parasitic infection, foot infections, and more.
Immune deficiencies that cause recurrent infections and taking multiple rounds of antibiotics isn’t a permanent solution. You must change your lifestyle to support your body and the immune system.

Stay away of sugar and anything that contain sugar.
Stop eating refined carbohydrates as they turn to sugar. Whiter the bread sooner you die. Do not drink soft drinks or any drink with sugar. Do NOT keep alcohol at home or work. Instead, choose HEALTHY alternatives for those moments you desire to drink an alcoholic beverage.

The bottled water has preservatives too.
Most of the bottled water it originates from public water sources and is then purified through a rigorous, seven-step purification process called Hydro-7™.
But they use preservatives making the bottled water acidic pH ~ 5.5 and they add a disinfectant, 4mg/L monochloramine (chloramines, NH2Cl).
Aside of a larger debate, one thing for certain is that chloramines kills bacteria in our
tap water, so it will also kill or dramatically injure cultures, which we use to ferment
(yeasts, lactobacilli and kombucha cultures all).
Chloramine can cause genetic damage in mammals, including human beings. In addition, a study conducted by the University of Illinois in 2004 demonstrates that a by-product of the chloramination of drinking water known as iodoacids (eye-o-doe-acids) may be the most toxic ever found in drinking water. The concern is the genetic damage they can cause in mammals (including humans) that drink chloraminated water, but also the fact that these dangerous chemicals are being released back into the environment where fish, wildlife, and the food chain can be harmed.
“Chloramine is not a persistent disinfectant and decomposes easily from a chemistry point of view (Valentine et al, 1998) but for water supply purposes chloramine is stable and it takes days to dissipate in the absence of substances exerting chloramine demand (Wilczak et al., 2003b). Therefore, it is not practical to remove chloramine by letting an open container of water stand because it may take days for chloramine to dissipate.
However, chloramine is very easily and almost instantaneously removed by preparing a cup of tea or coffee, preparing food (e.g., making a soup with a chicken stock). Adding fruit to a water pitcher (e.g., slicing peeled orange or lemon in to a 1- gal water pitcher) will neutralize chloramine within 30 minutes. If desired, chloramine and ammonia can be completely removed from the water by boiling; however, it will take 20 minutes of gentle boil to do that. Just a short boil of water to prepare tea or coffee removed about 30% of chloramine…. If desired, both chlorine and chloramine can be removed for drinking water purposes by an activated carbon filter point of use device that can be installed on a kitchen faucet. If desired, both chlorine and chloramine can
be removed for bathing purposes by dissolving Vitamin C in the bath water (1000 mg Vitamin C tablet will neutralize chloramine in an average bath. The skin is an organ and absorbs everything.
Give your body what it needs
Drink enough liquids, at least, half your body weight (pounds) in ounces per day. If you weight 160 pounds then you drink 80 ounces of liquids per day. From this amount 32 ounces should be fresh home made vegetables and fruit juice, 16 ounces plain Tea (Green tea, or Mountain Tea, boil the tap water for 10 minutes to remove chlorine and to kill most of the bteria, add tea, let simmer for 10 minutes and drink a cup in the morning and afte late afternun around 7pm, no sugar), and the rest water.
A healthy body is a well nourished body. The role of food is to provide us with the nutrients and energy that we need to live.
Only life generates life. All foods should be living, this is because when food is devitalized it generates illness and when it is dead it generates death.
Processed foods are devitalized foods.
Eat an alkaline diet of raw vegetables, and find a Mediterranean nutrition plan that work for you.
This is only the beginning of a journey but you are at least 2 to 3 years ahead because you were using Health pH tape and strips.
